H.A. #59- Frere

This card has no point. It has thing I liked today in it, things I could put my fingers on at a moment's notice, since I gave myself about 5 minutes to get this done before midnight. I've done worse.

H.A. #58- Yet Another Chat!

This is Gus. He is green. His smile means he is either lousy at cards or stoned. Catnip is probably on his breath as well as tuna. Wait, he wants more!? Its time for the inside-outside door opening that comes with a perfect sunny day. Then, when he has worn you out, you will find him in a sunny window, asleep and dreaming, his little paws twitching with activity and you will think to yourself," I still want to poke you!" But you will resist and gomake a green cat on a playing card....

H.A. #57- TABLE of contents

My last few blog entries have been very short and sweet. I am working on very little sleep and again, I am playing with the edges of what my cards need to be for a piece of artistic expression. This time, I added several plastic charms for silliness along with a sort of play on words.

So far I am convinced that no one "gets me" since all my cards that have gone out have gotten no comments or replies on this blog. I don't know, as yet, if they are ending up in trash cans or whatever. But I am plugging along. I have a lot to pass out so I need to get busy with that. It being the holiday season, I will be out more than usual and can "release" more cards. Maybe people with some computer knowledge will get a hold of one and write me a comment. Oh, well, that is not really why I am doing it, but it would be the icing on the cake...

H.A. #56- Vortex of Coy

This card was made while I was in a very wierd mood. I suppose I'm entitled.

H.A. #55- Follow Your Dreams

This card was made while I spent the entire day in my jammies. THe charm says, "follow your dreams." N'uf said.

H.A. #54- Friends and Family

I had a nice time with friends today, Thanksgiving & my 20th AA birthday! Right now, I am sleepy & ready for bed. But I had to finish my card. One of the women I met tonight was as much of a Star Wars/ Lord of the Ring/ Northern Exposure fiend as I am. So, when I ran across this guy, I had to add him to the card. Is it a jab or a joyful inclusion? This would be your job to figure out, as the card is no longer mine.....

H.A. #53-Have some fun!

Okay, bright colors, the word fun, and I plan on having a lot tomorrow. And all I have to make is a pumpkin pie (which I have already done). Now, its time for a hot bath and bed! Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Have some fun tomorrow!

H.A. #52- Free Will Blessings Count

For all of us who get tired of being told to "count your blessings", here is an offer of free will that you can change daily. Some days, yes, somedays, no- its your choice. If you don't want to be thankful on Thanksgiving, you can put the hand on "no" and just fill yourself up with food all day and scowl at your relatives. It is all a matter of choice.

H.a. #51-The Seer

PLaying with metallic cut-outs, a face, a stamp of the points for palmistry on the hand & some very bright tissue paper. This is what I came up with. Very bright & colorful. Enjoy your day!

H.A. #50!- The Homefires Burning

This is a sentimental little piece, I think. Frankly, my house is more along the lines of the Techicolor Taco...but I do love Black cats and bright flowers. So, outside of the mansion & the beauty, its all about me.....

H.A. #49- Fishy, fishy, fishy, fish!

Monty Python reference again! Oh, well, I am what I am! This is another magazine cut-up. This is quite fun, when it works. I suppose most things are more fun when it all works out.

H.A. #48-Techicolor Taco

I suppose food is on my mind this week. Thanksgiving is coming. But more than that, I found this really cool ad that I have cut it all to bits and had a blast making things from it. Maybe next will be a house with a turret or a rocket ship to Mars or a new undersea creature....The ad was not THAT big! I hope that whoever finds the most recent ones, likes them.

H.A. #47- Blue dress

I love this piece! I just started clipping up paper & voila! I'm going to cut up advertising more often! I have been giving pieces to people to take places and "release" since I am having a hard time thinking of new places, given that I only go to so many in a given week.

H.A. #46- MINE!

I have been feeling very Monty Python this week. I have no idea why. This collage happened when several pieces of paper wandered across the desk towards each other like mammals in heat. They met and I got the glue. 'Nuf said.

H.A. #45- Burger Nation

Playing with paper tonight, I got this notion & cut all these pieces from one brochure. Believe me, there was not a burger shaped ort styled piece on any of the pages, the colors just worked. I nearly forgot the cheese though. This was a fun one. Maybe tomorrow I'll do fries.....

H.A. #44- YUCK!

This ia a response to today's activities, the most horrific of which was the reseating of a toilet in our bathroom. At about midnight, I did this card. Toilet works & that is that!

H.A. #43- See?

It all started with glasses, a hand from a fortune teller's page, some glitter and the word, "See?" There you have a really wierd collage for today's installment. I left one of my collages in a child's grocery cart/ plastic car thing. I hope it doesn't upset the parents.....well, if it does, at least that would be a response. I don;t like this collage nut I will carry on and I will give it away.

H.A. #42- Tea-hee!

This has to be the stupidest title I have ever come up with! But it has been a very long week, I have been diverting myself by reading Douglas Adams again--love his mind, too bad its gone!--and this collage is so silly, I could hardly care about how it came out! And, despite the fact that she, the girl, is in a photo from the 1920's, she looks like she is gabbing on a cell phone! So, it fits today and my mood.....

H.A. #41- The catch of the day

I got a little too much powder on this card so I hope tha fish comes through okay. I put this together, again, in a hurry after an evening out. I think I need to give a little more time to these since they will be falling apart if I'm not careful. Its been a busy week.

H.A. #40- Something gold, please, with fur.

This was another quicky. I have been putting up some long-needed shelves in my studio so I was nearly at midnight before this one was done. I like it though, because I love that cat stamp. I love cats, what can I say?

H.A. #39- Out of my mind....

This acrd was made very speedily with very little thought. Some of my best collages come out this way. The words say, " Of course I'm out of my mind. It's dark and scary n there!"

H.A. #38- Dah-ling!

I was playing with some soft pastels, sketching one of the Dahlias that was growing in our garden until the first frost about 10 days ago. I made it into a card.

H.A. #37 -"Tiger, tiger burning bright..."

Tiger, tiger, thank you Wm. Blake. Four definitely makes a series....cats are a fun subject, but I need to try other things. This, I guess, is keeping me going since all I do all day just now is paint, sand, clean (yesterday it was plaster) & peel old wallpaper. And this house was built in 1942--not that old. It just needs a lot of help!

So, here's the story:

This cat is a bright gentlecat, working on his PhD in climbing high (bookshelves, of course!), catching things on the ground (in the dark) and prowling neighborhood street for characters for the expose's he'll be writing. When he's not teaching at the local cattery, he likes to sit at the heels of a local painter
(an expressionist!) to watch his paint brush swipe the canvas. Also, he likes to sleep inside a linen cupboard on the second floor & hide balls of paper in people's shoes. Very clever!

H.A. #36- a Real life cat- "Philo"

Philo is 6. He has only had three legs since he was three ( thus, the blue "peg" in the picture) He gets around very well, actually. (he doesn't really have a peg...) He talks about everything. None of it makes much sense, but it is very, very persuasive & persistent if he wants something.

He decided, last evening, that he wanted to go out and be the guardian of the house- against what we don't know. He does this every now and then, when a stray will find our yard or maybe a raccoon--which I would not want him to encounter.

Philo thinks he's up to the task. He has played watch- cat for the whole of his life. He is a very fit animal, has to be with one less leg, but he has never had to be so watchful. He was fixed early, so he doesn't have those particular urges, but he thinks he is a big, mean Tom-cat!

I was reading in bed and he would not stop meowing. It was 1am and he still would not stop it. I fed him, petted him on his favorite spot and I told him he was staying in. I was finishing a book so I tried to wait him out, but at 2AM, I caved in and let him out.

I slept until 10am and he did come in until then, talking all the way,"meow, roaw!, roaw! merp, reow!" I wish I understood CAT. ANyway. this card is a tribute to the eternal talking cat--Philo.

H.A. #35: More than one makes a series-Cats

This guy is cute. He is a pleasant enough fellow. He likes sunbeams on his favorite blanket in his favorite window, he likes his chicken at the dinner table with the humans & he likes scratches under his chin. He's a regular cat. I think I'll call him Amos.

H.A. #34- Here's TROUBLE!

After yesterday's less than adequate performance, I decided to actually give it some thought. I based the face on some fabric I found in my "stash" from my quilting days. It, obviously being a cat print, was never to be thrown out or otherwise discarded....

This reads: "Trouble, loves flattery but seldom hears it, likes tuna, but doesn't share it!"

Silly, yes, and pointless, but, please, explain to me the point of 365 card-sized works of art given away on a whim? Some I have left nail marks on when I released them...I did not want to!!!! But I did and that is the learning, huh? Others I am too embarassed to leave in the trash....again with the learning!!!???

H.A. #33 Mondigliani in 5 minutes or less

The five minute card.....
done 15 minutes before midnight. I guess it had to happen eventually.
A tribute to Mondigiani, even if it is quickily done and a bit less than my usual. Or perhaps it is an improvement? Its sort of Red, white & blue unintentionally, I assure you.

H.A> #32- Plowing the Road to Mandalay

When I lived in England for a year, 15 years ago, I found that the elephant was very big, image-wise, in the culture of England, left over from the occupation of India. Anyway. I remeber a children's song that was about "nelly the Elephant" and how she packed her trunk, left the circus and went back to Mandalay. I loved the name Mandalay and my son & I would sing the song together.
I suppose this is a roundabout way to explain the name of this piece.
