H.A. #89- Feet #2

Again, a very weird filler, while I dealt with my family today. My mother has cancer that we just found out about it &, being a dutiful & compassionate elder daughter, I am attending the oncologist appointment with my parents, both of whom are a bit over whelmed, tomorrow. Today it was confirmed to be cancer while Mom & I were in Office depot. My father called after receiving the call. It was the strangest, most surreal experience. So, I guess, all I could do is stamp something on this card, play around with a storyline & go to bed. Don't ask me what dimension 12 is. I just heard recently that there are more than four dimensions figured in quantum physics so I threw that in, being completely ignorant of its reality.

H.A. #88- Ebenezer's feet

OKay, I got the Christmas Carol thing a bit late this year. I am always fascinated by Scrooge's feet in slippers, walking aroung with the ghosts in the snow. His ankles are always exposed under his dressing gown, in all versions. Its an interesting study, if you are a little weird like me.

I stopped the alphabet because it sort of bored me. I might resume it later, who knows.

H.A. #87- c

This was the most fun, since it is Christmas Day. C is for A Christmas Carol, my favorite story of all time, which is the background script. Also, it is for clock, camera, say cheese!, counting, & coin. Happy Christmas to all!

H.A. #86- b

First there was brown "b", then Betty, then baubles & babbling words as a background and there it is---"b."

H.A. #85- A

I began this a couple of days ago, even though it might not look like it. I don't know if I want to continue the alphabet. I was trying some new techniques, some were successful, some not. This was less so, although it looks better online than, to me, in person...A is for abacus, acorn & apple (blue?)

H.A. #84- Done after midnight- "Hot Foot?"

Sort of a magical hot foot, I think. So many stamps, so little time...

H.A. #83- New thing, done before midnight-MYSTIC

I was playing with background and rubber stamp images using masks. I began this one and the next one, finishing this one day and the other the next.

H.A. #82- Magic Time

As it says, "Magic time is created when unconventional person comes. " Is this intended to sound like the stereotypical Asian-speak? I think its rather horrid, thus the wierdness of the card itself. "Pas Tombe" means mis- step or placing a step wrong in dance. Is this card a mis-step?

H.A. #81- Attitude

She's got attitude! Happy Solstice!

H.A. #80- Christmas ingredients

I have entered a swap using recycled Christmas cards. so, I thought I would get started thinking about this. Plus, it is five days before Christmas, I suppose I better get in the mood.

H.A. #79- Laughter Lightens the Heart

"To send Light into the darkness of men's hearts- such is the duty of the artist"--Robert Schumann

I suppose I could use my own medicine, we just found out my mother (71 and very healthy) has lung cancer. She was a smoker for many years, but quit last year for no reason, had an xray & she was fine, then hurt her back (working the 6 acres she has to work alone since my father had knee surgery), they took a back xray & found cancer in both lungs. I keep trying to laugh and be encouraging when I am around them, but alone I feel so wretched. I will continue my work here and, hopefully, lighten my own heart in the process.

H.A. # 78- Greenman Smiling

The Solstice is coming, the sun will be back, so the Greenman, keeper of the woods, "Jack O' the Green" , Herne, Old Man Oak, or whatever you call him, is watching over the sleeping forest. Even under snow & ice and rain, he's there waiting to show you the little bit of green he's keeping safe. Stay tuned.

H.A. #77- Color Way

I liked this one, its colorful and I enjoyed making it. I have finally gotten through the papers in my studio (found some interesting things...) and I have them somewhat organized. So, perhaps I won't have to spend all my creative time looking for that one piece that "I saw yesterday!"

H.A> #76- UGLY CARD? Worth $50?

This card did not turn out as I had envisioned. Still, its a better "mistake" than some of my intended cards. Thats what comes of continuing to work at that each day.

H.A. #75- Why Not?

And well you might ask such a question. For instance, when someone says," You can't make a living as an artist," or " No daughter of mind will be an artist!," or "I don't call that art!" You can use this useful phrase "Why Not???!!!" Then get up and leave the room quickly before you faulter. It takes a lot of courage to be yourself. If yourself is an artist at heart, it will take courage to be that!

H.A. #74- Nod to Jasper Johns

I watched a documentary about Jasper Johns today. Therefore, my card represents some of the images I remember from the video: the colorful swaths of color ( I did not have stencils small enough), the American states in different colors, a hand print, & rain as in his "seasons." Not bad for 2x3"!!!

H.A. #73- This holiday season

The small grid has a few item from this , if not most, holiday seasons which I find exceedingly tiresome. 1. credit card, 1. two eye balls that go round & round, 3. "I want", 4. snow flake in foil (as in decorations), 5. star (same) 6. blank square (rhymes with blank stare), 7. diamells, 8. two pennies. Thewhole thing is up for interpretation anyway.

H.A. #72- Floor Plan

Part of this one is a copy of a miniature Clue game board. The words partially obscured are "Floor Plan", hence the name of this piece.

H.A. #71- Genie with a Question

"The genie arrive only to find that the 1 who rubbed his lamp had ditched."

H.A. # 70- Wonder

I really liked this one even though I don't know why it is called wonder.
A friend of mine told me about ATCs (Artists Trading Cards) and after I looked into them, I realized that this is exactly what I am making although I am getting nothing in return. Perhaps I will join a group & begin trading. If they'll have, that is. It doesn't chamnge my focus for the year....

H.A. #69- Another Window , another Sunny Day

Is that A lock? One would hope not.

No, it opens onto a bright day, or is it the sun returning that I see? A rather serious sun, indeed. It is one that means business about coming back this solstice.

H.A. #68-Breathe

I am not quite sure how this one is supposed to go. I made this for a friend who is very stressed out right now looking for work. Also, we tend to get very busy during the holidays and we forget to breathe.

H.A. #67- A Little Mystery Cat!

Who is this cat behind those eyes? We may never know....

H.A. #66-Dream

Sweet dreams! I need to get more cards out into the world. Tomorrow I venture out to get a tree so we'll see where I can leave them.

H.A. #65- Secret door 1

Open the door & see what is inside!

Get out of the city & into the trees!

H.A. #64- Masquerade

Odd, I have not put any of my cards on my blog for 6 days. And, I had not realized it. Well, this, as I recall, was #2 for the day, the first one being a real dud & set aside until I could think of how to make it better. Mostly, I liked the red mask but the rest of it I wondered about.

H.A. #63- I sat in front of the TV tonite

This is what I did. I cut out little squares and glued them to a card in a pleasing form. I was pleased to get it done. Not a very productive day...

H.A. #62- I Play it Cool

This is a Langston Hughes quote. Another in a long, long line of weird cards.

H.A. #61- Your fortune

Well, whoever finds this card will get a fortune, like in a cookie, but without the cookie. And, also, without the Chinese take-out, or the chop sticks- bummer!

H.A. #60- Exciting discoveries

I've been making exciting discoveries as I put my studio back together (as if it ever was "together"...) after putting in some shelves. So, these next few cards will be wierd!
