H.A. #149- A Card for a Friend

This is a card I made inside a folded tage to express my appreciation for a friend of mine who always gets me postage stamps when he goes to shows and shop, etc. I have collected stamps only a short time (coming in, as I did, thru the back door of looking for art supplies!!!) but he has been collecting his whoole life nearly and has an eye for finding me things I am needing for my collection. I thought it was time he got some art.

H.A. #148- ALLEG-ROW!

I have had this rubber stamp that says allegro forever & I had just planted a woman in a rowboat over the channel in Vienna. What more can I say?

H.A. #147-Answer for something!

If you can't see it very well, there is the outline of a head in the background & part of the defini9tion for the word thought. I guess this is sort of protest piece.

H.A. #146- Don't mess with children

My Mom sent me an email that said "don't mess with children." She said it was funny. I am not a religious person, but I do believe in God & I believe in kids being closer than we are to having been near spirit &, if we leave them be, they will wake us up!
A Story-
A kindergarten teacher was observing her classrom of children whiile they were drawing. She got to one little girl who was working quite diligently & she asked her what the drawing was.

THe girl replied" I'm drawing God."

THe teacher paused & said," But no one knows what God looks like."

Without missing a beat or even looking up, the girl replied,"They will in a minute."

Don't mess with kids! They are having fun!

H.A. #145- GOOF OFF!

So, with my hand hurt, I have been using, almost exclusively, cut up paper and stamps to make my cards-- no drawing, I can't hold a pencil very well.
Its a challenge, but I still enjoy it although I am getting very tired of my hand being in a wrap.
Anyway, the message still is, that its time to play, goof off sometimes, okay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

H.A. #144- sight

OKay, I said I would try to keep up, but I have not done so, basically, because I have a lot going on...
I am still making one card a day, but not getting them on the blog. My right hand being hurt has not helped. GRRRRRR!

H.A. #143- ABC CUTie!

This is a fun one for me because it is me, about 40 years ago! I didn't have the heart to alter it more, she's so much cuter than I am now!

H.A. #142- Looks like an authentic reproduction....

...of my grandmother's table. The food was good, why so somber?

H.A. #141- Even Little Artists Have Dreams

I spent a good deal of time making this woven paper background and then wrote this absurd little phrase. Okay, its not my favorite

H.A. #140- Rules of the game

The rules have changed this week as I have an injury to my right hand--I am right handed-- called a ganglian. It is a family trait to get these, I guess, but it has only hit my left hand before. It takes what seems like ages to heal & I have to wear a brace to help make myself not use it so much. So my cards are all collage & no drawing. It could be worse.

H.A. #139- Defendit Numerus

This is the only Latin I know and it was recently acquired. It means "there is safety in numbers." I think we need to know this now.

H.A. #138- Valentine's day

I put this together rather fast since I had plans for the day with my sweetheart--my husband of 25 years....

H.A. #137- Fork

This card was inspired by what I read somewhere about an altered book artist who wove a fork (a real one) into her design because her father liked this phrase or something like that. It felt like it was fitting to what I am dealing with. I not only have my mother & her cancer journey, but myclose friend, an aunt of my husband, is dying & its very unsettling because this is the second person I've watched die of emphezema.

H.A. #136- Listen

I did not like the way this card came out, but the sentiment improved it.

H.A. #135- Two Love

I am feeling Amourous this week because I must. Unlike the east coast, we are having our usual rain & spots of lovely sunshine. It feels like spring. The day I made this, I spent the entire day in my pajamas and I was proud to do so.

H.A. #134- Unrest of Spirit is A Mark of Life

H.A. #133- Leg bone, Doorknob, One Bee & two Fez-es=ART?

H.A. #132- Tasteful Seating Area with Bugs to Scrutinize or Run From

H.A. #131- Mystere

This looks like a place you might like to go, but only once. It is beautiful & disturbing. Your sleep is filled with dreams of places on other planets & other times. THe petroglyphs make sense then. You recognize your friends, your own soul & others of your time. You awaken feeling huge, clumsy and you can;'t now remember how you could read the signs on the rocks. You float down to the breakfast table where a seven-foot tall man with purple whiskers begs you to try the pancakes with his homemade strawberry jam.

H.A. #130- Picture this!

The women on either side look like ghosts. I really like this simple card.

H.A. #129- Something to Dream About

I don't know waht to say. I am still posting several days after I am doing the cards. Oh, well, at least I am doing the cards everyday....

H.A. #128- Friends

This one was a repaired larger collage-- cutting up a mistake which looked a whole lot better in a smaller piece. But I did not put a lot of time into it, nor effort. I just like the concept: friends mirroring each others darker & lighter sides. Hopefully there is a balance there.

H.A. #127- Not merely a reflection

This one began as a kind of color study & becamw quite a nice card. The addition of the phrase helped make it important to me.

H.A. #126-Leap!

2/2/07
I loved making this. After a relaxing night's sleep & a yoga class, I felt ready to make a fun card. So, one old, bent, over-colored Seattle postcard and a few bits and pieces, & here is my version of Wonder Woman!

H.A. #125- Fin (as in Finish!)

2/1/05
Another sort of silly & experimental card. A little late posting it because of several things going on that have involved my mother, etc. "fin" reminds me to hurry up and finish because it is better to be done than to fuss.
I like this one, though. The image reminds me of a Very tame Salvidor Dali.

H.A. #124- Service

New Technique, silly card, don't ask.....
